Winter Series - West Melton

Sunday 7th July 2024 Address - 580 Chattertons Road, Mcleans Island (West Melton Horse Park)

Ride Brief

This is a general ride brief and information. Please make sure you attend your ride briefing at the specified time on the day, as this may have more details and important information. All riders MUST ATTEND, no exceptions. The ride may be familiar to most of you and follows the horse trails in West Melton Forest. Most of the track is good going but there are patches of stony areas. If your horse is used to being barefoot these areas should be okay, otherwise err on the side of caution with hoof boots. Parking will be in a paddock which we have kindly been given access to by Fulton Hogan which is accessed from the float park. This will ensure the float park is kept mainly clear of traffic and vehicles. One entrance will be access for floats and the other access will be for horses only for entry and exit to the middle paddock where the vet ring and start/finish line will be. See base map button below. There is a toilet onsite and water will be available for your horses.
GENERAL Manure Please scatter your manure in the parking paddock. RubbishAbsolutely no rubbish is to be left on base or on the track. If you drop something, please make sure you pick it up. Fire extinguisherThere will be a fire extinguisher in the Canterbury Club Trailer. Any emergency needs to be reported to Andrea Rigby or Marga Marshall as soon as possible. Please use your common sense around this. Back Numbers Your back number can be collected from the secretary caravan and will be in a plastic bag. Please remove the back number from the plastic bag and place the plastic bag in the labelled box. After you have completed your final vet check, please return your back number and put it in the labelled bin. ON TRACK Track mannersPlease be courteous of other competitors at all times. The track goes in a loop so if you would like to pass, please ask if it is okay and give the competitor/s plenty of room. RidersEven if your horse is friendly, please keep space between you and other horses. Horses with red ribbons in their tails should be treated as if they could kick, blue ribbons are for stallions. You should give all horses as much space as possible for their safety and yours. No whips or spurs. If riding in unhealed foot wear, caged or approved safety stirrups must be worn. No GPS and no time wasting. All helmets must comply with regulations and be tagged. Course10km = Follow the forestry horse markers.
