What Happens On The Day Of An Event?

You have received confirmation of your registration and event day is finally here! You will have received your vet in time, riders brief time and start time with confirmation of your registration.
  • Arrive at ride base, park up where indicated, and settle your horse. Give yourself enough time before you have to vet in.
  • Take a walk around and familiarise yourself with where the secretary's caravan is, where the vet ring is and where the start/finish line is.
  • Go to the secretary’s caravan to pick up your bib
  • Groom your horse, pick out feet and go to the vet ring untacked in halter and lead rope.
  • Your horses heart rate will be taken
  • You will be asked to trot your horse out to a marker and back. You should trot on a loose rein with their head free
  • Return your horse to your float
  • Attend the rider’s briefing at your stated time (someone will also call). This usually happens near the secretary’s caravan.
  • You will be told at the rider’s briefing what types of markers have been used to mark the course, if there are any hazards to look out for and your ride time. Optimum ride time for CTR and minimum and maximum times for Endurance.
  • Go back to your horse and tack up. No spurs or whips.
  • Head to the start line with your horse in time for your scheduled start time. For CTR riders, your start time provided to you is when the clock will start for you whether you are at the start line or not. Good idea if you are there a few minutes before to ensure you don’t miss your start time!
  • CTR riders - when you cross the finish line your horses heart rate will be taken. You can either stay mounted or dismount. If there is a queue please just walk your horse around until someone can get to you.
  • Endurance riders – when you cross the finish line take your horse back to your float and cool them down.
  • You have up to 30mins to cool your horse down before you need to present the horse at the vet ring for your final vet check. Call out “time” and your bib number so the vet gate can record the time you have vet in.
  • Your horses heart rate will be taken. It must be under 64 beats per minute, otherwise you will be eliminated.
  • You will be asked to trot your horse out to a marker and back. You should trot on a loose rein with their head free.
  • Return your horse to your float and settle them.
  • Relax, and come join us for a complimentary bbq and prize giving!
