Hororata Domain Event

Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd October 2021 56 Hororata Road, Hororata

Ride Brief

Thank you to the wonderful team at the Hororata Domain for allowing us to host our event at this lovely setting. This is a general ride brief and information. Please make sure you attend your ride briefing at the specified time during the weekend. You will be given track information at the ride brief on the day, along with important information about any hazards to be aware of. All riders MUST ATTEND, no exceptions
COVID – DELTA LEVEL 2 RESTRICTIONS The Delta strain is the most transmissible variant to date, spreading a lot more easily than the original version of the COVID-19 virus and other variants. It can be passed in the air, so these procedures must be followed for you to participate in this event. They are in line with ESNZ guidance.
Ride BaseThere is a limit of 100 people per day that are allowed at the event under Level 2 restrictions. Only confirmed registered riders will be allowed to enter ride base and participate in the event. Please do not bring spectators. If it is necessary for you to bring someone, please notify us by emailing: cetrc.secretary@gmail.com.
Please wear a mask when going to the secretary caravan as others may be there without being able to maintain the required 2 metre distance. Please scan the QR code at the secretary caravan and sign the sheet. If you have been given approval to bring someone, please make sure they also do this as we are legally required to record who has been at our event.
Your back number can be collected from the secretary caravan and will be in a plastic bag on the table outside the caravan. Please remove the back number from the plastic bag and place the plastic bag in the labelled box. After you have completed your final vet check, please return your back number and put it in the labelled box. There is hand sanitizer available by the caravan for your use.
Hororata Domain is a public Domain. There may be walkers, runners and riders not involved with us at this event. Please be very courteous and respectful of this. All areas outside of the base paddock, toilet block and start finish line are out of bounds.
ParkingPlease ensure you are parking to maintain some distance with others. If you are putting up pens, please make sure your gate entries are not next to other pens. Please be extremely considerate where you park and set your pens up. Keeping in straight lines and rows as much as possible. Please see below for a base map to show where to park and where to find the areas you will need.
Vetting inYou must wear a mask when vetting in. You will not be allowed access to the vet ring without one. NB: Under 12 year olds are not required to wear a mask. There will be an area marked in front of the vet ring where you need to call out “time” and your bib number. This is so Wendy can record your vet in time to ensure it is within the allocated time you have been given. If there is a queue at the vet ring and you are near the end of your vet time make sure you let Wendy know you are there.
Prize giving/bbqUnfortunately, we won’t be able to offer a social bbq or prizegiving at the Event. Certificates, ribbons and log books (where applicable), can be collected 2 hours after your class has finished from the secretary caravan. Please wear a mask when going to the secretary caravan as others may be there without being able to maintain the required 2 metre distance.
All of the event Results will be posted on Facebook and our website.
General housekeeping 1. Rubbish - Manure/hay/feed to be collected and dropped by the large established trees around the edge of base or remove and take with you. The base is to be left as you find it. Absolutely no rubbish is to be left on base or on the track. If you drop something, please make sure you pick it up. 2. Fire extinguisher - There will be a fire extinguisher in the Canterbury Club Trailer and in Ursula’s White Toyota Hilux. Any emergency needs to be reported to Ursula Keenan or Dave Hadler as soon as possible. Please use your common sense around this.
On Track 1. Track manners - Please be courteous of other competitors at all times. If you would like to pass, please ask if it is okay and give the competitor/s plenty of room. There will be some common ground on the track, so if everyone heads out on the left and in on the left where possible that will help the flow. If you are with a group at water points, please allow those there first a chance to drink and move off before you allow your horse to drink. Many horses will be put off drinking when a strange horse approaches, it is particularly important to respect the horses competing over longer distances. Even if your horse is friendly, please keep space between you and other horses. Horses with red ribbons in their tails should be treated as if they could kick, blue ribbons are for stallions. You should give all horses as much space as possible for their safety and yours. If there are CTR riders at the finish line having heart rates taken, please be respectful of this.2. Markers - Dazzled road markers, dazzled milk bottles, arrows of different colours and loop signs.3. Water – There is a good amount of water on all loops with tubs and buckets at various places. If you see tubs or buckets that need refilling, please notify an official when you can.
Riders No whips or spurs. If riding in unhealed foot wear, caged or approved safety stirrups must be worn. For CTR, no GPS and forward motion must be maintained at all times. All helmets must comply with regulations and be tagged. Helmet tagging can be done on request. Please ensure you allow plenty of time if you need to get this done.
Ride Times These will be provided at the ride brief on the day
