GUIDANCE
Below are some guidance notes to give you a helping hand with aspects of our sport which may seem a little daunting but with the right guidance everyone can do!
We are always here if you have any questions so don't feel you can't approach us - no question is a silly question!
Endurance & CTR Training
When preparing to do endurance/ctr riding, it is important to condition your horse. Conditioningdevelops the horse’s cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and neurological systems. Bones take the longest and need several years of conditioning.
This guidance of how to train for a 40km ride is guidance only. It is only to give new ridersan idea of what they can do to train their horse for endurance and CTR.

Strapping Guidance
"Strapping" is the term used to describe the process where the horse is cooled down after completing loops, in order to reduce their heart rate to under 64 beats per minute. This is the maximum heart rate that a horse can have in Endurance and CTR as part of the vetting criteria to qualify for that loop or at completion of the ride. Please click on the button below to see the Strapping Guidance.
Vetting Guidance
You are required to vet your horse in for both Endurance and CTR. Vetting in occurs before your ride, during loops if you are doing longer rides, and at the end of your ride.
Please click on the video link below for a video link which goes through the whole vetting process including how to trot up your horse for the vet
