Winter Series - Chaney's Forest
Sunday 03 July 2022
Address - Belfast Pony Club, Spencerville Road, Belfast
Introduction
We are very excited to be holding the first of our Winter Series at Chaney's Forest! A lot of the forest has been felled and they are doing some further logging during the week but will not be working on the weekend fortunately! We have been assured that the machines will be off the track!
Footing is good but there are some gravel tracks. If your horse is okay barefoot then you won't have any problems but wear boots if you have any concerns.
Your bib numbers can be collected from the club room. Please remove your bib from the plastic bag and leave the bag in the bucket provided.
You must have your bib number on before you vet in.
Please take a look at our On the Day page for information on what you need to do on the day if you are new to CTR.
Ride BriefThis is a general ride brief and information. Please make sure you attend you ride briefing at the specified time, as this may have more details and important information. All riders MUST ATTEND, no exceptions.
General housekeeping 1. Rubbish - Manure/hay/feed to be collected and taken with you. the base is to be left as you find it. Absolutely no rubbish is to be left on base or on the track. If you drop something, please make sure you pick it up. 2. Fire extinguisher - There will be a fire extinguisher in the Canterbury Club Trailer. Any emergency needs to be reported to Wendy Farnell as soon as possible. Please use your common sense around this.
Ride Base and Parking The Belfast Pony Club is our ride base. Please park sensibly to allow everyone space to park. The toilets are in the club house. Water will also be available but please bring your own buckets and drinking water.
On Track 1. Track manners - Please be courteous of other competitors at all times. Passing - If you would like to pass, please ask if it is okay and give the competitor/s plenty of room. There will be some common ground on the track, so if everyone heads out on the left and in on the left where possible that will help the flow. Rider Courtesy - Even if your horse is friendly, please keep space between you and other horses. Horses with red ribbons in their tails should be treated as if they could kick, blue ribbons are for stallions. You should give all horses as much space as possible for their safety and yours.
2. Markers - Arrows and loop signs. 3. Course – Both the 10km and 5km leave base the same way and return the same way. Follow the markers and signs for the loop that you are riding. The loops are marked with 10km and 5km signs and the split will be clearly marked. There is common ground on the loops but just keep following the markers for your loop. Don’t look behind, always follow the markers ahead of you.
